If you are the spouse, relative or executor of the estate of someone who had an account with Nutmeg and he or she has passed away, the following information may be useful to you.
If you need a probate valuation we'll need you to provide us with an original death certificate. Please post this to the address shown below. When we receive it, we'll post a valuation and a probate and bereavement pack back to you.
Once you've received a grant of probate we'll also need you to post that to us — a certified copy or an original is fine.
To have the proceeds paid out to the chosen beneficiaries, we will need:
- a letter of instruction signed by all of the executors mentioned on the grant of probate
- identification documents for all of the executors
If you are not applying for probate we can accept a small estates declaration form alongside either the original or a certified copy of the Will. These forms are available upon request so do let us know if you need one.
You can choose to have the proceeds paid out to as many beneficiary bank accounts as needed. Alternatively, the proceeds can be moved into or divided across multiple Nutmeg accounts.
If the beneficiaries are not the executors, and we haven't received identification documents already, we'll also need to see these for each beneficiary.
Once we've received all your instructions we'll carry them out as soon as possible.
If the account is only a pension we won't need as much information from you to get the pension money to the beneficiaries. This is because the pension is written in trust and therefore beneficiaries are set up at the application stage of the pension.
We will need to see an original death certificate and we will need identification documents for the beneficiaries also. Once we have this information we will be able to pay out the proceeds to the nominated beneficiaries.
